Governance Structure
As part of delivering on the Chief Information Officer’s mandate, a set of committees called the CIO Community for Collaboration and Communication (C4) has been established. Guided by the principles of inclusion and efficiency, the committees bring together members of the Office of the CIO with representatives from across the organisation, while streamlining or closing certain existing committees, with the objective of focusing effort, avoiding duplication, and ensuring that the resulting structure delivers clear value to the Laboratory.
Central to the structure is a C4 Steering Committee supported by a number of Technical Committees from across the Laboratory.
C4 Steering Committee
The C4 Steering Committee makes final decisions on computing strategy, budget, and staffing, and arbitrates when a technical committee cannot reach consensus. Decisions are usually based on technical committee recommendations, but strategic items may also be raised directly through the Chair.
C4 Technical Committees
The C4 Technical Committees provide analysis and recommendations to the Steering Committee on areas beyond delegated decision-making authority. A main C4 Technical Committee oversees overall guidance,
supported by smaller, topic-focused committees.
